Dear Members of the Society of Comparative Endocrinology,

It is with great sadness I share with you the news that Eric Roubos collapsed and died suddenly last Monday. I have been in touch with the family to communicate the sincere condolences of all members of this society.

Eric Roubos has left an important legacy for comparative endocrinology, he served the European Comparative Endocrinology Community for many years, as the President of this society in 2002 - 2006, Vice President in 1998 - 2002, Secretary General in 1990 - 1998 and as a Councilor in 1988 - 1990. I would like to share with you, and sincerely acknowledge, the active and important contribution of Eric Roubos to endocrinology by circulating an editorial Bob Dores wrote in 2012 for a special issue of General and Comparative Endocrinology that celebrated the work of Eric when he retired.
