ESCE call for expressions of interest to host a future CECE conference
A message from our president, Prof. Jozef Vanden Broeck:
In line with our long-standing tradition of rotating conference venues, ESCE has launched a call for expressions of interest to host a Future CECE conference. This is a great opportunity for institutions and local organisers to showcase their region and contribute to the continued success of this excellent tradition.
The European Society for Comparative Endocrinology (ESCE) invites researchers and their institutions to submit expressions of interest for hosting one of its upcoming international conferences (particularly CECE-2028 and CECE-2030).
Why host CECE?
The Conference of European Comparative Endocrinologists (CECE) is organised every other year (since 1962) and brings together researchers from across Europe and beyond.
Hosting CECE offers:
- International visibility for local research teams and institutions.
- Opportunities for both established and early-career researchers to foster collaborations and strengthen networks.
- A chance to contribute to scientific discussion and progress in (neuro)endocrinology and related research fields.
Why plan ahead?
Planning well in advance gives conference hosts more time to spread the preparative effort, secure support from colleagues and professional conference bureaus, and attract sponsors.
Support and feasibility
Many ESCE council members have successfully organised CECE conferences in the past and can provide excellent advice. Their experience demonstrates that hosting CECE is both feasible and highly beneficial. The society assists hosts with the organisation and supports early-career researchers with travel grants, as well as awards for best oral and poster presentations.
What we are looking for?
- A committed local organizing team.
- Suitable facilities for plenary lectures, parallel sessions, posters, and networking.
- Commitment to scientific excellence, inclusivity, and sustainability.
How to express interest?
Please submit a short proposal (ca. 1-2 pages) including:
- Name and location of the host institution.
- Proposed venue and timing.
- Coordinator and key members of the local organising committee.
- Preliminary ideas for the schedule (scientific sessions), social events, and outreach.
Deadline for Submission: June 1 st, 2026
Send your expression of interest to the ESCE board members: jozef.vandenbroeck@kuleuven.be (president); ecapilla@ub.edu (vice-president); elisabeth.eppler@uzh.ch (secretary-treasurer).
Next steps
Concrete decisions regarding the next two conferences (i.e., CECE-2028 and CECE-2030) will be made during the ESCE Council and General Assembly meetings at the 32 nd CECE, which will take place in Barcelona (September 6-10, 2026).
We look forward to your proposals and to continuing the long tradition of excellence in CECE conferences!
